DIY E-Skateboard Question

Hello everyone.
Im trying to build my own electric skateboard with a 5065 brushless motor. The only esc i currently have is an 80A BLHeli drone esc. I've tested this esc with the motor and it worked well so far.

What i am worried about is if i were to try and ride the skateboard freely (Let's say my battery ran out at the road) and i had to ride the skateboard myself, would the voltage created in the motor going back to the esc damage it? Or would it just dissipate as heat?

If the ESC doesn't have back voltage protection, it will damage it but I'm not sure. You could use a protected ESC or maybe add a "one way bearing" between the motor and wheel. In this way, the motor will be connected only when is active and when you push the skate, it will spin free.

I prefer electric cars because I believe that they are the future, and one day everyone will switch to using them. Until I buy mine, I rent it when I need it, which is most often when I go to another city. I was recently in Los Angeles and rented an electric car on this website rental24h.com
