Treatment for moderate to severe pain involves the use of a synthetic opioid painkiller called tramadol. Chronic pain, post-surgical pain, and pain from trauma are among the disorders for which it is frequently recommended. Like other opioids, tramadol binds to opioid receptors in the brain and acts on neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and serotonin. Pain, both acute and chronic, can be effectively relieved with tramadol therapy.
