Tapentadol is prescribed for the management of acute pain, such as pain following surgery, injury, or medical procedures. It is often used when other non-opioid pain medications are not sufficient to provide adequate pain relief. In addition to its use in acute pain, tapentadol may also be prescribed for the management of chronic pain conditions, such as neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy or chronic musculoskeletal pain.
